8 HITS FROM HELL WITH MICHAEL DIPASCALE
A COFFIN COMICS ARTIST MINI INTERVIEW
Coffin Comics is proud to welcome on board cover artist Michael DiPascale to render the Diva of Death (and other Coffin denizens) in his own elegant illustrious manner.
You can expect – and collect – Michael’s Lady Death covers each month in 2017, frequently in “Naughty” and “Nice” editions.
We caught up with Michael so we could formerly introduce him to all you “FIENDS” out there.
COFFIN COMICS: Who are you and what do you do?
MICHAEL DIPASCALE: My name is Michael DiPascale and I’m a cover artist.
CC: What projects are you working on for Coffin Comics?
MD: Right now, just Lady Death.
CC: What are you trying to bring to Lady Death when you depict her?
MD: I like to make her look regal, always. I never really want to make her look slutty or anything like that. I like to make her look elegant and regal.
CC: Do you listen to any music while you draw Lady Death?
MD: I always listen to a lot of different stuff while I’m drawing. I like Black Label Society. A lot of metal.
CC: When did you first discover Lady Death?
MD: I’ve known about Lady Death for a long time. I begged to do cover art for her when she was with Avatar when I worked there, briefly. I’ve always wanted to draw her.
CC: Lady Death fans are the best fans. What do you think the fans need to know?
MD: I’m a big fan of the old school Lady Death, Steven Hughes style. I really liked when Louis Small Junior drew her. He did the Lady Death / Vampirella crossover. I really like how he depicted her. I know, through the years as more artists have drawn her, she’s gotten more complicated. More bones and more intricate work into her costume and things like that. I always try and keep her simple. Keep her true to the original depiction on her.
CC: Anything else you want to add?
MD: I love the fans! They have a crazy passion for Lady Death. They are truly dedicated, with tattoos and things. (Laughs) Like Brian says, without them I wouldn’t have a job!
CC: How can people get a hold of you?
MD: I have Facebook, Patreon, a DeviantArt page, and I’m on Twitter!
