EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH LADY DEATH: SCORCHED EARTH CO-WRITER MIKE MACLEAN!

Looking for more juicy details about Lady Death: Scorched Earth #1 (premiering on Kickstarter on March 6, 2019 at 7:00PM MST)?

We sat down with Lady Death co-writer Mike MacLean to see what more he could reveal!!!

Coffin Comics: What should we expect from Scorched Earth? We are left with a lot unanswered questions from Nightmare Symphony, which was more of a prequel to Chaos Rules. How does Scorched Earth fit into the story line?

Mike MacLean: Scorched Earth picks up right where Apocalyptic Abyss left off. After a brutal confrontation with Hellwitch and the Hellbourne Elders, Lady Death and the Hellraiders arrive on Earth (Man, there’s a helluva lot of hell’s in that sentence). Their mission—save humanity from the extinction-level threat brought on by the psychotically powerful Trinity and eliminate the mysterious Hellbourne terrorists known as The Sect. Unfortunately, the moment Lady Death steps foot on Earth she becomes the target of HALO, a nefarious conglomerate seeking to weaponize supernatural power so they can wipe “unnaturals” off the face of the globe. Without warning, Lady Death is thrust in a bloody fight for survival—a fight that will cost her a very dear price.

CC: Why should fans be excited about this Lady Death: Scorched Earth Kickstarter?

MM: If you’ve ever backed a Coffin Comics kickstarter, you know the madness that is about to ensue. Brian always delivers a slew of amazing covers from the best artists in the business and a ton of fun stretch goals. And, you might’ve noticed, with each new story we ratchet up the action, thrills, and drama. Scorched Earth is no exception.

Need more enticement? I have two words for you—DIEGO BERNARD. To put it simply, Lady Death’s new interior artist is crazy talented. I’m so excited to work with him. Just look at his Hellwitch: Hellbourne pages and you’ll be blown away. I foresee a bright future for Diego, and this is a chance for fans to get in on his very first Lady Death issue.

CC: Why should someone new to Kickstarter or someone “on the fence” back this new Lady Death Kickstarter?

MM: If you love fast-paced, supernatural stories full of action, dark magic, and sexy femme fatales then you can’t go wrong with Lady Death: Scorched Earth. Plus, you get to join in on the insane circus that is a Brian Pulido kickstarter. I love visiting comic shops and soaking in all the nerdy goodness. Yet there is something so exciting about being in on the ground floor of a brand new story—to read it first, to get exclusive artwork. But be warned, backing Coffin kickstarters can be addictive as hell.

CC: Any last words? Surprises you want to hint at?

MM: Expect the unexpected. In this chapter our diva of death will suffer a loss like never before. Will she exact blood-stained vengeance or suffer crushing defeat? Back Lady Death: Scorched Earth to find out.
